Alvoria, Valora – The Arcandian Parks Department (APD), in collaboration with Global Freight Solutions (GFS), has unveiled a revolutionary new addition to Alvoria's Green Crescent Park—a self-maintaining playground.
Gone are the swings, slides, and monkey bars of yesteryear. Instead, children can now enjoy a sprawling expanse of gravel, dotted by a few strategically placed rocks. With no moving parts or “unnecessary extras” like shade or water fountains, the APD proudly touts the playground’s durability and cost-effectiveness.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, APD spokesperson Laura Venn hailed the project as a "game-changer for public spaces... Children don’t need fancy structures to have fun,” Venn declared, gesturing to the barren expanse. “What they need is imagination and resilience—both of which are fostered right here. And the best part? Zero maintenance costs for taxpayers!” The project was made possible thanks to a generous donation from GFS, who conveniently used the gravel left over from a recent freight mishap. “It’s what we call a win-win,” said GFS CEO Darren Kepler, whose company also secured the exclusive contract to deliver more gravel “as needed.”

Parents and children alike have expressed mixed feelings about the new playground.
“My son twisted his ankle climbing that rock,” said one parent, gesturing to a jagged boulder affectionately nicknamed “Mount Budget.” “But I guess he’s building character” Some children, however, were less diplomatic. “It’s just rocks,” muttered 8-year-old Elias Mendes, visibly unimpressed. “There’s no TVs or anything, where are the ads and cartoons.” To address these concerns, the APD has launched a community initiative to rename the rocks, encouraging kids to “engage with nature” by submitting creative names. So far, the frontrunners are “Pointy,” at 1.5 million votes, “Sharpie,” at 1.1 million votes, and “Rocky McRockface.” at 960k votes.
The playground’s design aligns with the growing trend of corporate-sponsored government programs. While Glint Global Holdings and Arcandias Financial Trust typically dominate these ventures, GFS has seized this opportunity to bolster its public image as a company “for the people.” Rumors suggest that Arcandias Financial Trust has proposed a subscription service for premium playground upgrades, including shade trees and benches. As Arcandians continue to grapple with the "playground of the future," one thing is certain: in a nation where imagination is the only thing truly free, children are now richer than ever.
